Dayner Tafur-Díaz began his musical education on the trumpet and received a scholarship for the "Arppegio" orchestra project at a young age, where he gained his first experiences as a conductor. In September 2017, he moved to Germany and, as part of a voluntary service in Berlin, assisted conductor Knut Andreas in leading numerous ensembles and youth orchestras at the Georg-Friedrich Händel Music High School. In 2018, he began his training as an ensemble and choir conductor at the Berufsfachschule für Musik Mittelfranken, specializing in orchestral conducting under the guidance of Uwe Münch. In October 2023 he won the German Conducting Award, which is awarded jointly with the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne and the Ensemble and International Opera Studio of the Cologne Opera. In August 2022, he won 1st prize in the second edition of the International Opera Conducting Competition of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège (Belgium), and in November 2022, he won 2nd prize in the Orchestra Conducting Competition of the University of Almeria (Spain). He was also selected as one of the 20 finalists for the 2023 edition of the Mahler Competition. Dayner Tafur-Díaz attended masterclasses with Michael Riedel, Thomas Mittelberger, and Giampaolo Bisanti and participated in the Campus Dirigieren 2021 and Kritischer Orchester® 2023 programs. Among the orchestras Dayner Tafur-Díaz has worked with are the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, Badische Philharmonie Pforzheim, and the orchestra "Sinfonía por el Perú" founded by Juan Diego Flores. As an assistant, he collaborated with Giampaolo Bisanti on the productions of "Alzira" (Verdi) and "Sonnambula" (Bellini) at Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège during the 22/23 season. In November and December 2022, he will assist Christopher Franklin in the production of "Die Zauberflöte." Additionally, in February 2024, he will make his debut at the Opéra de Tours in a production of Verdi's "Luisa Miller." Since October 2019, Dayner Tafur-Díaz has been studying Bachelor Orchestral Conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart under the guidance of Prof. Rasmus Baumann, and since 2023, he has been a scholarship recipient at the Forum Dirigieren of the Deutscher Musikrat.
