Chloe Rooke was Assistant Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic in 22/23, also conducting them in concerts and recordings. In September 2024, she will take up the newly created position of Emerging Artist in Residence with Residentie Orkest, where she will conduct four projects each season. She came to international attention after winning the Contemporary Award at the first International Conducting Competition in Rotterdam in May 2022 and the Audience Prize at the Donatella FlickLSO Conducting Competition in 2021. Highlights of 23/24 season include her debut at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, debuts with Orchestre National de Lille and London Mozart Players, and concerts with Residentie Orkest, London Sinfonietta and family concerts with LSO at the Barbican. Equally at home on the opera stage, Chloe conducted the Residentie Orkest and singers from the Dutch National Opera Academy in an acclaimed production of Mozart’s La finta giardiniera at Amare in Summer 2023. This coming season she will conduct and assist at Opera North in Mozart Così fan tutte, and will assist at Garsington in a production of Britten A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She has previously assisted at the Glyndebourne Festival on Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, at Nancy on Magic Flute, and with A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Opera Rouen. Passionate about music’s role in bringing social transformation, Chloe is Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of Street Orchestra Live (the UK’s first street orchestra), her association dating back to 2019.
